Following the news about crisis in Egypt, about Ahmadiyah and all, then of course some observers prattling on TV… really gets me some heartburn. Funny, just because of different opinions, they fight on TV. Maybe it’s just me. Beinf too sensitive and naive. But, I’ve never stopped agreeing on John Lennon’s words in his song: Imagine. If there is no country, no religion, no heaven and hell, nothing to kill and die for, maybe this world will be more beautiful. People will live peacefully side by side. Maybe, yes maybe. Maybe as a consequence of human nature that is egotistical and insatiable, the jungle law would still apply. And if this law prevails, things would just be the same… another war, another riot, another hostility…
War is a behavior pattern of organized violent conflict typified by extreme aggression, societal disruption, and high mortality. It involves two or more organized groups. In all cases, at least one participant/group in the conflict perceives the need to either psychologically or materially dominate the other participant. In all wars, the group(s) experiencing the need to dominate other group(s) are unable and unwilling to accept or permit the possibility of a relationship of fundamental equality to exist between the groups who have opted for group violence/war (Wikipedia)
I am thinking that war is the most ridiculous thing on earth. It results in nothing but pain, loss, sadness, chaos, hatred, trauma, sorrow, misery, and all negative things can be. It is caused by the one and only: difference. People worship uniformity. People allied. People endowed with desire (baca: nafsu) which if it is not wisely controlled it will lead to some destructive acts i.e. war.
I have listed several triggers of wars as follow. You might think of something else too.
1. Ideology
2. Autocracy
3. Religion
4. Race/racialism
5. Natural resourse
6. Money, property, or wealth
7. Tribe or ethnic group
8. Romance, love, or lust
People don’t learn, do they? Human history has been stained by wars all over the world. But still… we practice it up till now, even though we claim ourselves as civilized. What’s civilized about killing and destroying one’s life? Ooh, I am so sick of it. Life is so short. Can we just live it peacefully?
